Robot Assisted Prostate Adenomectomy

At Informed, in collaboration with EAU, we created an explanatory animation about a robot-assisted prostate operation.

My main responsibility and challenge for this project was visualising the surrounding organs and the removal of the prostate. This project was particularly special to me, because I was also appointed as the project lead. I worked closely with the client, a doctor who performs these procedures himself, to ensure a realistic video.

The final result is a good representation of the procedure and a very nice animation. I’m proud of what we achieved.

Main Tasks

  • Adjusting existing organs to a cut-through version
  • Creating materials for the organs
  • Animating the removal of the prostate
  • Close contact with the client
  • Managing the project

Duplex Congenital Malformations

In collaboration with EAU and eUROGEN, we created an explanatory video about congenital malformations, which are urinary tract alteratons. The video is aimed at parents of children with these conditions, providing information about their development, risks, and possible procedures.

My main task in this project was visualising four common alterations of the organs. I've modelled them based on doctors' sketches, which was quite a challenge. I've made materials for these alterations, surrounding organs and fetus. Furthermore, I designed and animated four icons in the background and worked on animation several scenes, including characters.

Main Tasks

  • Visualisation of urinary tract alterations
  • Animated the growth of organs
  • Created and animated icons
  • Altered fetus & created textures
  • Character animation

Prostate Cancer Screening

This video was created to showcase the importance of screening for prostate cancer. The client wanted to inform viewers about the risks and benefits, so that prostate cancer could be detected and treated early.

I contributed significantly to the storyboard and blocking of the scenes. We had to puzzle a lot to correctly visualise what was being explained.

The client requested a '2D look' for the video, but we didn’t have one yet. I focused on all the materials and creating a 'Toon Shader,' and after some trial and error, I’m happy with the results. Furthermore, I designed and animated icons, visualised the growth of a tumor and wobbly cells using Geo Nodes, and focused on ensuring a smooth development process for the project.

Main Tasks

  • Storyboarding and blocking
  • Creating Toon Shaders
  • Creating & Animating Icons
  • Visualisation of risk factors
  • Working with Geo Nodes

Cholesteatoma/implant TO DO

For this project for Erasmus MC we've visualised the ear anatomy and explained an operation of the removal of an cholesteatoma. I've worked mainly on the visualisation of the ear anatomy and the cholesteatoma growth. TEXT TO DO

Main Tasks

  • Adjusting the mesh of the Ear Anatomy
  • Creating the inner-ear anatomy (cells)
  • Animated the growth of the Cholesteatoma

Scinvivo: Lumante Imaging Platform

For this animation, we needed to showcase Scinvivo's innovative new product, which is a device that uses laser beams. This device is designed to reveal the depth of a tumor located in the bladder, something that could not be determined before.

My challenge for this project was the visualisation of the bladder wall and the tumor. This needed to be shown first with only the tumor on the surface and the depth unknown, and later with the depth exposed. I had to create new materials for this setup, create the laser beams using Geo Nodes and make sure everything was linked and non-destructive.

Main Tasks

  • Creating materials for the bladder layers
  • Creating lasers & reflections in Geo Nodes
  • Animating the reveal of the tumor
  • Creating non-destructive materials & objects

Kitchen

For this personal project, I recreated an image of a decorated kitchen. I modelled the Italian Espresso Maker and the Orange Juicer myself, and adjusted the textures I downloaded. I also designed the lighting myself to set the atmosphere and general mood of the scene.

Although I'm aware that I could make improvements to this project with my current skills, this was created some time ago. I wanted to showcase it as an example of the progress I’ve made over time.

Main Tasks

  • Modelling
  • Lighting
  • Adjusting textures

TurboTheorie

While working at TurboTheorie, I created images for students who were taking our driving theory course. The images were displayed in front of the class with a question next to it.

I only created still images for this company, animations were not needed. The traffic situation I had to recreate was always fixed, but other elements, such as lighting, composition, textures, and details, were up to me to decide.

Main Tasks

  • Composition
  • Lighting
  • Modelling
  • Cameras
  • Particle & smoke simulation
  • Post-processing
  • Batch rendering
